BLESSED BE MY ROCK!

"The LORD lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let God be exalted. The Rock of my salvation." Psalm 18:46

Do you know my Jesus?

Came across this napkin the other day.  It came from our Israel trip and it is going to have a place in the "final" scrapbook -- one day!
Yes, you are reading it right; it does say pizza and Jerusalem together.  :-)
Jacob's Pizza was just across the narrow, cobblestone street from our quaint hotel.  After a few days of pita and humus for lunch, a few shekels for some pizza sounded like a fabulous little splurge.  The pizza was DELICIOUS, even by American standards, but the short and very direct conversation with Jacob himself was one of the amazing experiences of our trip to the Holy Land.
We ordered our slices of pizza with clearly American accents.  The cashier - Jacob - inquired where we were from and what brought us to Israel.  We explained that we were on a trip with Jerusalem University College.  Jacob then asked, "Do you know my Jesus?" Period.
WOW!  No beating around the bush, no formalities, just, "Do you know my Jesus?"  We had a little discussion and are pretty sure that we know the same Jesus.  :-)
Still moved by that little question with HUGE implications.  What a challenge!  Oh to be that bold!  That is my prayer.  It's my desire.

Do YOU know my Jesus?

Jesus who:

Was born as a baby. - Luke 2:11
Grew in stature and wisdom. - Luke 2:52
Was tempted by satan. - Matthew 4:1
Fed the multitude. - Matthew 14:19-20
Walked on water. - Matthew 14:25
Healed a blind man. - Mark 10:52
Died on the cross for the sins of all men. - Luke 23:33
Rose from the grave. - Mark 16:6
Sits in Heaven at the right hand of the Father. - Hebrews 12:2
Is coming again! - Matthew 24:30

The most crucial, amazing thing to ever be shared...JESUS!

Without Him
Without Him, I could do nothing.
Without Him, I'd surely fail.
Without Him, I would be drifting,
Like a ship without a sail.
Without Him, I would be dying.
Without Him, I'd be enslaved.
Without Him, life would be worthless,
But with Jesus, thank God, I'm saved.
Oh Jesus, oh Jesus.
Do you know Him  today?
Do not turn Him away.
Oh Jesus, oh Jesus.
Without Him, how lost I would be.

Do you know my Jesus?  Can I introduce you to Him?

John 1:29 - The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold!  The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"

Lessons from the Game

This photo is not mine...I just found it online, but it is a good representation of my thoughts and I love it!!!  This little boy just melts my heart!  He has his football in his lap, he is sitting there watching quietly and intently...
Tonight, we went to a high school football game and had fun, but all the while, wondering...where are we at?  What is going on?  We knew our location, even if we didn't know a single soul in the stands or on the field.  We knew that two high school teams were playing football on a beautifully, chilly Fall Friday night.
However, from the moment we sat down at the football game tonight, until the time we left, those things kept running through my mind... Where are we at?  What is going on?

There were kids of ALL ages running around. - They were not watching the game.
There were parents who were talking to each other and watching the game. - They were not watching their children.
They were stepping on other people's coats, yelling obnoxiously, invading other people's personal space. - They were not thinking of others.

What is going on?
When I went to football games as a child, I did not run around, I was there to watch the game.  My parents were there to watch the game and to watch me.

Society is teaching entitlement.
Entitlement - the belief that one is inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.
"It's all about me."
Is it really any wonder why society as a whole is in the predicament it is today?
Is it really any wonder why bullying has become such an epidemic; to the point of suicide?
Is it really any wonder why we have to build more jails because the number of people committing crimes against one another continues to grow?

Theologically and practically...
Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Are we training our children or are we just letting them go?
Apparently the parents of the little boy in the picture above are training him; he had been to twenty (20) football games by time he was 2-years old.  (I admit that it's not theological training; it's more practical, but I believe they go hand in hand.)

My parents trained me; and I am grateful!
They taught me to be respectful.  They taught me to think of others.
Do I fall short?  Often.  But I am grateful to have conviction of the the Holy Spirit to help me.
Lord, help me to train in YOUR ways!

C is for...

CUTE!  This little guy does bring a smile to your face most days.  He really has been a GREAT little dog...and he's getting older every day.  Reality is that he won't be with us too much longer because he's dealing with health issues...soooo, trying to prepare myself now...  This picture is absolutely perfect of him.  He made his way under the table, and cover, to play with his Chicago Bears toy that he got for Christmas.  When I called his name to snap this picture, this is what I got...priceless!!  :-)

Square

A simple little granny square...but a bunch of them together should make a nice little baby blanket.  Hopefully there will be final pictures to post LATER.

Childhood

My husband bought this little character for me a couple of Christmases ago.  What a treasure of memories this brought back from my childhood.  So simple, but what a smile it brought again.  :-)  Did you have one of these growing up?
What did you call it?  Bird bobber toy?  Water dippy bird?  Is there a real name for him?
