BLESSED BE MY ROCK!

"The LORD lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let God be exalted. The Rock of my salvation." Psalm 18:46

Still amazing kids (and parents) everywhere! :-)

My mom got this amazing idea from the Grit newspaper probably 35 years ago.  She made them for both my class and my brother's class for Easter one year.  God bless that woman!  They were a hit then and they are still amazing people today!  They have made there way into a 4-H Demonstration speech - where I got a blue ribbon; into a High School Junior demonstration speech - where I got an A; on to a College Demonstration speech - where I got an A; and, now on to you!  I don't even know if my mom still has the "original" pattern and directions (knowing her she probably does have it somewhere), but here it is in my simplest terms for you.  I'll do my best, but I do not guarantee that there aren't any errors.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to help out if I can.

First you take a strait pin and poke a hole in the top of your egg.  I use a butter knife to make it a bit easier.  Then I use a tooth pick to break away a little bit of the shell to make the whole bigger.  About the size of the tip of your pinkie finger.

Then I use the toothpick to stir up/break up the egg in the shell.  This makes it much easier to shake out the egg.
I INTENTIONALLY left out pictures of the next step because in all honesty...it's plain disgusting.  Carefully shake out the egg into a bowl.  (You can use the eggs in MANY ways later...scrambled, omelets, egg casseroles, in recipes if you shake them out in separately measured containers, etc.)  This may take a while to get the hang of, but I know you can do it.  :-)  (The more you break up the egg and stir it up in the shell, the easier it is to shake them out.

Once all of the egg is out of the shell, you need to rinse the empty shell.  I rinse with HOT water at least 3 or 4 times until the water coming out is clear.

Place some paper towels in the bottom of the egg carton and turn the shells upside down to drain and dry.
Prepare your finger Jello.  Yes, I do it the old fashioned way, with less water and Knox unflavored gelatin, but others have told me they use the Jello Jigglers recipe with no problem.
Place a small funnel in your emptied egg shell.  Once the Jello is a little cool, pour away.  NOTE:  Jello will stain your egg shell if it spills, which it inevitably does for me.  But, do not worry, you can decorate the eggs after they have set and all will be covered and well.
Place your eggs in the carton in the refrigerator to set up.
Decorate if you wish or just crack and peel and...
WHA LA!!!!  Finger Jello Easter eggs in real egg shells!  Amaze your kids, your friends, your family, your kids' teachers, your kids' friends' parents...  ENJOY!!
I did these for Jordan a couple years ago for school and he was thrilled, so this "Mom of the Year " (had to make myself smile there) made them again this year and they were just as amazed this year.
